Maternity Portraits in MOMA

Living in NYC and not having a studio to work in during cold months presents some challenges. I get inquiries from clients wanting to photograph during winter but reluctant to photograph at home or rent a studio. They are often looking for an indoor location, but it is not easy an easy task to find a location in New York that does not require a photography permit.

When this mom-to-be reached out to me for maternity session she was worried that her apartment was too small and dark therefore we needed to find a perfect indoor location.

While brainstorming we thought of Brookfield Place, Oculus or even Grand Central. An idea came up to photograph in Moma -The Museum of Modern Art as it was the couples favorite museum in NYC , would be a unique setting for maternity photos and will shield us from the cold NYC winter.

I’m not going to lie, I was super nervous photographing inside a museum with guards and people looking at us. Also, since no flash is allowed inside museums I had to work with fluorescent and tungsten lights. With all these limitations I’m very proud with the way this maternity session turned out.

If you are interested in photographing this special time in your life contact me here for your own maternity session.
